Joe joined Louis Plung & Company in 2022, coming over as part of the merger with Love, Scherle & Bauer, P.C., where he served as the tax manager since 1983. That experience resulted in Joe serving many different types of clients, although his practice eventually evolved to the point where I serve mainly individuals, small closely-held businesses, trusts, and private foundations.

Joe’s legal background helps him research complicated issues and draft appeals to the Internal Revenue Service, Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, and other taxing authorities. Taxation is subject to constant changes by our legislators more than any other area of the law. It’s become more important for one to know where to find the answers than to know all the answers oneself.

Except for four years spent away at college, Joe has in Pittsburgh – within the city limits – his entire life. He enjoys the down-to-earth people, the best ballpark in America, and the underrated music and pop culture scene. Joe and his wife, Judy, have three adult children, Jennifer, Christopher, and Dominic, a son-in-law Eric, and a grandson Elias, and hope to see the family add daughters-in-law and more grandchildren.
