She joined a wealth management company in 2017 catering to high-net-worth individuals, where she assisted in the preparation and planning of individual, trust, partnership, small business, and charitable private foundation tax returns.

According to Heidi, she has always been drawn to the accounting world and has discovered that she is a “rules person.” What motivates her is the process of taxation– she thrives on bridging the gap between taxpayer and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and ensuring that clients are only paying what they owe. This quote by Judge Learned Hand resonates with Heidi, “Anyone may so arrange his affairs that his taxes shall be low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which will best pay the Treasury; there is not even a patriotic duty to increase one’s taxes.”

Heidi is a member of the Western Michigan Estate Planning Council an organization dedicated to promoting cooperative efforts and education in the field of estate planning. She served as treasurer from 2023-2024, assisting the council with various accounting tasks including creating a budget, reducing expenses, and transitioning them from a fiscal tax year to a calendar tax reporting year to match their book reporting.

Outside of work, Heidi enjoys sailing the Great Lakes with her family, traveling whenever possible, and cozying up with a good book.
